Electroset Interview

Item Added: 12-10-2010Electroset Interview

Q Your tour starts in matter of days, so who will be with you on stage and how are preparations going?
A Simon Hayward on keyboards and Sarah Brown on vocals will join me. This means that we will be leading on from the summer ‘electroset’ shows that we did in Germany. Those sets went across very well, some of it is possible to see right here on this site in fact. Obviously we have built on the set  since then, taking it from an hour long to around one and a half hours and adding about another ten songs along the way. I will be adding some more on top of that even as the tour progresses, enabling us to chop and change a little along the way!

Q How do you look on the Lostboy! AKA project almost six months since you released the debut album?
A Lostboy ! AKA is a work in progress. It is still very early days and I am excited about the new songs that I am working on and that will eventually go towards being the making of the second album - due to be released next year! Part of the charm I hope in these shows, is the fact that it should, in a good way, be obvious that LBAKA is still a work in progress. I am after all still trying to develop an act here, my own act that is.

Q How did it feel returning to LBAKA after being so busy touring elsewhere this past summer?
A. With not that much activity, I kind of lost some momentum over these last few months,as of course I had touring commitments with Simple Minds. But it means that coming back to it, it’s all so fresh again and I am not in any rush to be honest.

Q so you are still thinking long term?

A Certainly! I do envisage LBAKA as long term, the only goal is to make as much inspired music as possible as well as doing whatever I can to try and get the music heard. That is why I tour. I want to keep plodding away, getting out and being available to those who have supported me. Keeping ticket prices as low as possible reflects my attitude within that. I want to try and build LBAKA slowly but surely and step by step. Working on a foundation that is solid is the only way to do that.

Q How will the new set be, what additions have you made to the summer German set?
A As expected the body of the set still revolves around the debut album that featured so many songs that people have connected so strongly with. I will also feature some brand new songs that are destined to be part of the next album. In terms of looking back and acknowledging the support from fans of Simple Minds, a few things from Empires and Dance will be another highlight, as well as perhaps some surprising choice of covers. It will be an energetic and eclectic set.

Q I suspect that you are looking forward to it!
A Of course I am, it is difficult to explain how much I enjoy making and performing music, perhaps even more difficult to explain that I am enjoying it in some ways more than ever. I hope that is apparent to those who come and support me, that they can feel that coming from the stage itself!

Q Finally, what about those countries that you have yet to take Lostboy! AKA to, can they hope to see you live?
A Yes they can as I do hope to continue with more extensive touring in Spring next year!
